You already know the system won’t be your long-term home.

Now you’re deciding how you want to practise next.

You’re not here because you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure.

You’re here because you can see clearly.

Here’s what that clarity is showing you

You know that the way midwifery is currently structured doesn’t allow you to practise with the continuity, judgement, or professional standards you value – and you’re no longer willing to keep adapting yourself to make it work.

You’re not turning your back on midwifery.

You’re choosing to practise it in a way that makes sense to you.

This is about making intentional decisions about your professional future.

The Self Made Midwife exists for midwives who are ready to decide how they want to practise, rather than continuing in systems that no longer fit.

It’s for midwives who want to work independently with clarity and confidence – without rushing, burning bridges, or compromising what matters to them professionally.

This work is about direction and discernment, not crisis.

You’re likely in the right place if:

  • You already know you won’t remain in the NHS long-term
  • You’re thinking ahead rather than reacting
  • You want to understand your options before you act
  • You value professional judgement, continuity, and autonomy
  • You want to do this carefully and properly

You don’t need persuading.
You need orientation.

If this resonates, the free guide is the best place to begin

self made midwife background 7

Hi, I’m Linda,

I’m an award-winning independent midwife and mentor, and I’ve been practising midwifery for nearly four decades.

I built my independent practice deliberately – not as a reaction to burnout, but as a considered response to how I wanted to practise and live.

Along the way, other midwives began seeking me out – not because they wanted motivation or hype, but because they wanted to understand how to translate years of experience into independent practice without losing professional integrity.

I now mentor midwives who are ready to step outside the system and want a clear, realistic framework for doing so.

This work is grounded in lived experience – not theory, and not guesswork.

This isn’t generic business coaching.

I don’t teach abstract marketing tactics or promise shortcuts.

I support midwives to:

  • clarify how they want to practise
  • understand what independent work actually involves
  • make informed, grounded decisions
  • trust and use their own professional judgement

This is about turning experience into a practice that fits – clinically, professionally, and personally.
