ABOUT LINDA

Independent Midwife, Mentor,  Founder of The Self-Made Midwife Method™

I’ve been a midwife for almost forty years, long enough to know when something is broken

Long enough to know that midwives aren’t leaving the profession because they “can’t cope.”

They’re leaving because they’re human and the system has forgotten that.

I didn’t leave midwifery.

I left a way of working that was hurting me.

Independent practice gave me back the dignity, the space, and the humanity that the system had drained. And now, it’s my life’s work to show other midwives the same possibility.

Not through pressure.
Not through overwork.
But through structure, clarity, and a path that honours who they are.

I was an NHS midwife for decades.
I’ve worked every shift imaginable, mentored students, navigated staff shortages, and carried more moral injury than I ever thought possible.

When my own life turned upside down, I made a decision:

If I was going to continue midwifery, it had to be on my terms.

I built a private practice from the ground up.
No handbook. No roadmap.
Just lived experience, a set of values I refused to compromise, and a belief that women and midwives deserve better.

It grew into a six-figure practice

Then into courses, therapies, and a mentorship programme, and a community of midwives who now serve outside the NHS with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

What I Believe

You deserve to work in a way that honours that.

Professional growth should feel safe, not pressured.

Your qualifications are enough, you don’t need a business degree, you just need a structure that supports your next move.

And you don’t have to abandon your skill, your identity, or your integrity to thrive outside the NHS system.

Your next step doesn’t have to be dramatic.
It just has to be yours.
